If you are looking for world-class Asian art, you may be surprised to learn that 10% of the world's greatest Chinese artefacts are stored in giant catacombs in the mountain behind the not-to-be-missed National Palace Museum in Taipei. Perhaps one of the main reasons why Taiwan is such an enjoyable country to visit is its rich spiritual heritage. Taiwan’s landscape is sprinkled with spectacular temples, their roof eaves curling heavenward to attract good fortune and repel evil, whether it be in an industrial park, commercial centre, or farmers' fields, or at the end of a lantern-lined lane in a quiet neighbourhood. The temple interior, far from churchly solemnity, is a feast for the senses and a riot of animation.
DAY 01: ARRIVE TAIPEI
Upon arrival at Taoyuan International Airport, you will be welcomed by our local representative and transferred to the hotel for check in. After check in, free at own leisure for the rest of the day.
DAY 02: TAIPEI
After breakfast, proceed to view National Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall, which boats traditional chinese architectural featured in majestic splendour. Later proceed top to get some gifts at Aboriginal Product Centre. Thereafter continue journey to Chiufen - known as “the Gold Capital of Asia” during the peak of its gold mining days in 1890s. It became famous after “City of Sadness” which won international acclaim at the Venice Film Festival, was filmed here. The gold is gone, but Chiufen (Jiufen) built of closely-packed houses clinging to steep mountainsides, continues to offer enchanting scenery, unique teahouses and fascinating glimpses into the lifestyles of the past. Have lunch at your own expense in this prosperous village with many shops selling famous local dishes and snacks. Next, we visit Wulai, a small town famous for its Aboriginal Culture and Hot Spring. At Wulai Old Street, you will not only have the chance to learn more about Atayal Aboriginal Culture, also you will get the chance to experience Taiwan rustic yet refine hot spring culture. Thereafter we visit Tiensi Pixiu Gallery to view 5000-year old ancient traditional Chinese culture and some fine handicrafts. In the evening, romantic dinner will be served at Five Cent Drift Wood. After dinner, enjoy shopping at Taipei's largest Shihkin Night Market where you can get a good bargain of goodies.
DAY 03: TAIPEI
After breakfast, proceed to Shih Lin Residence which was where the late Mr. Chiang Kai Shek and Ms. Song Mei Ling retreated to from mainland Chian after the communists gained control of China. Then we proceed to Taipei Grand Hotel ranked as one of the top 10 hotels in the world. The hotel with its traditional palace-style architecture and brilliantly tiled roof is worth a photo shoot. In the afternoon, obtain a gift at the Pearl Center before having lunch with Xiao Long bao dumpling. Next we visit the Evergreen Maritime Museum whose mission is to preserve the history, art and science of boats and ships, in the hope of generating public interest in maritime culture and in turn inspiring the pursuit of knowledge and the spirit of exploration. Thereafter continue journey to Wufenpu Wholesale Fashion Street for some shopping bargains of clothes and thereafter depart to Taipei 101 Shopping Mall ~ the world tallest building with a height of 508m and 101 stories above ground and five stories below.
DAY 04:  TAIPEI
After breakfast at hotel, free at your own leisure where you can explore the city or enjoy your time in the hotel. It is your choice.
DAY 05: DEPART TAIPEI
Breakfast at hotel. Check out hotel and transfer service to airport for your next departure.
