In one week you visit Jaffna, Mannar and Trincomalee, then return through Kandy, the Nuwara Eliya hill country, Kataragama and Galle. Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive in Colombo, Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, Dambulla

Our representative meets you at Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo. Drive to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage to watch the elephants at feeding and bathing time. Continue to Dambulla and check in to your hotel. Overnight: Dambulla · Meals: Dinner

Day 2 – Dambulla to Jaffna via Thiruketheeswaram Temple, Mannar

After an early breakfast, drive north to Mannar. Visit Thiruketheeswaram Temple, an ancient Shiva temple about seven miles north of Mannar town and one of the island's Pancha Ishwarams. Continue to Jaffna, the heart of Sri Lankan Tamil culture, and check in. Overnight: Jaffna · Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 3 – Jaffna temples to Trincomalee

Visit Nallur Kandaswamy Temple, Jaffna's grand Murugan temple, and Naguleswaram Temple at Keerimalai. Drive down the east coast to Trincomalee. In the evening, visit Thiru Koneswaram Temple on Swami Rock, overlooking the Indian Ocean. Overnight: Trincomalee · Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 4 – Dambulla Cave Temple and Kandy city tour

Leave Trincomalee after breakfast. En route, visit the Dambulla Cave Temple and its Golden Buddha statue. In Kandy, enjoy a city tour and visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. In the evening, watch a Kandyan cultural dance show. Overnight: Kandy · Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 5 – Ramayana trail: Hanuman Temple, Sita Amman Temple, Kataragama

Drive into the tea country towards Nuwara Eliya. Stop at Sri Bhakta Hanuman Temple in Ramboda and Sita Amman Temple, linked to the Ramayana story of Sita. Continue south to Kataragama for the evening puja at Kataragama Temple. Overnight: Kataragama · Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 6 – Galle Fort and Colombo city tour

After breakfast, transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport for your flight home. Meals: Breakfast
